Hawaii public schools are facing an additional 35% cut in funding to their athletic departments. This will affect equipment purchases, transportation and coaches stipends. The cut is necessary to balance our state budget, but will affect safety and participation in high school sports.
Although over $700,000 dollars has been raised by the Hawaii High Schools Athletic Association, more is needed to reach our goal.
